Tom’s Last Minute Dessert

  • Time 1 and a half
  • Serves 12
Ingredients
  • Tom’s Last Minute Dessert
  • On Christmas there was a bunch of Rhodes frozen Dinner Rolls that thawed out and about 18 were stuck together, they had been thawed and re-frozen, probably at the store. They were going to be thrown away and I asked if I could try and make something out of the rolls. I wanted to make cinnamon rolls , but no cinnamon. I then thought about dividing the stuck together rolls and rolling them out flat. I took some cherry preserves (it was all I had) and coated the inside of the rolled out rolls. It was about a 1/2 thick when I rolled it out. I sprinkled some sugar on the preserves to make it thicken up and almost be like a thick filling. I rolled up the dough and placed on a baking sheet seam side down, if you have a bread pan it would work better and be a more perfect loaf. You can slice in a design at this point .
How to make it
  • Let the loafs proof till twice their size, egg wash to make it brown better. I baked at 350 till browned. I let cool, then made a frosting using the left over preserves and some heated plain white cake frosting and drizzled over the loafs.
  • This was so good and looked not too bad. These 2 loafs were sliced before the regular desserts.
  • So, before you throw something away think about what you can make, it may save you a few cents and a trip to the store.
