Heated Competitions

The State Fair of Texas’ Creative Arts Competitions are far better than reality TV. At the Home Depot Competition Kitchen, spectators can watch all the excitement as contestants cook and present their dish to judges each morning in hopes of winning a coveted blue ribbon. Each new day brings an exciting new culinary competition, so be sure to swing by and check out the action.

Battles in the kitchen aren’t all the Creative Arts Building has to offer. Hosting more than 1,100 competitions each year, competitive event categories include everything from art and photography to knitting and crafts. Winners of these categories are on display throughout the building for everyone to see. Be sure to stop by and see the talents of your fellow Texans.

While you’re at the Creative Arts Building, stick around for one of four daily cooking demonstrations in the Cutco Celebrity Chef Kitchen. Each day Texas chefs prepare their signature items, share tips and let audience members sample their tasty creations.

No visit to the Creative Arts Building is complete without a stop by the State Fair of Texas butter sculpture. A Fair tradition, the sculpture each year represents the theme of the Fair.
