Marfa
This out-of-the-way retreat turned West Texas hot spot still buzzes, thanks to new shops and old standbys.

Laurissa,
Maybe double check peoples names before mentioning them.

It seems the writer didn’t go very far into Marfa. Except for the Thunderbird, everything else is with in two blocks of the middle of town.

So close and yet so far...
Your writer failed to mention some Marfa institutions, and I just can’t let those omissions slide.
The Hotel Paisano has been one of the crown jewels of Marfa for almost a century. My husband and I married at the hotel this past June, and it was perfect! The hotel’s covered pool stays refreshingly cold even on the hottest summer day, and the courtyard provides the perfect hang out spot to meet up and visit with friends and traveling companions.
In addition, while Cochineal may be fabulous, Sunday morning brunch at Austin Street Cafe is a treat that no one visiting the town should miss. Kate and Jack are the best hosts, and the food is beyond fantastic. The Food Shark, too, has some of the best mediterranean and middle eastern style food I’ve found anywhere in the US.
I’d also highly recommend renting one of the old-school bicycles at the Thunderbird. Marfa is still small enough so you can do all your touring around riding the bicycle without feeling like you’ve just finished a marathon.
Finally, I just can’t believe your writer didn’t even mention the magical Marfa Lights. Yes, Marfa has become a mecca for contemporary art and artists, but if you haven’t done the Marfa lights, you haven’t done Marfa.
Sincerely,
