so if the INSURANCE companies decide who and who they won’t cover [such as those with pre-existing conditions or terminal illness] that’s okay - the status quo - but its evil for the government to make such decisions? the insurance companies are in to MAKE MONEY while the government proposes to HELP people who need access to regular health care, not just the ER visit.

None of the bills being considered include anything like a takeover. Subsidies to buy insurance for people who can’t afford it, and a public option, like Medicare, that people can afford. If the insurers want to compete, to bring these subsidized customers in, they can make real options more affordable. Spreading these wild fantasies of a government takeover just proves that Republicans are doubling down on the status quo.

So, your point is you don’t want to be made to wait because people use the ER instead of a doctor? And you don’t understand that when the GOVERNMENT "gives" you health care, the GOVERNMENT will decide who gets it, how much they get and when they STOP getting it? You must think the good nanny state will wipe your chin, do your laundry, pat you on the back and tell you it loves you.
