The original dirty dancer, Patrick Swayze, died Monday at the age of 57.

He was the best kind of Texan - big, tough, strong, loyal, humble, capable, and unassuming. I always loved the fact that you never heard anything about Patrick Swayze...no scandals, no affairs, no dramas played out on the covers of tabloids...He was a class act and so is his wife.

I can’t remember a time in my life when I’ve been quite so upset about a celebrity death. Maybe River Phoenix.
But Johnny Castle was a part of my childhood. I can’t believe he’s gone.

On the note of the (completely awesome) Dirty Dancing soundtrack, let’s not forget that Patrick Swayze SANG "She’s Like the Wind." Oh man. I’m going to have to watch that when I get home. Again. And maybe make yet another run at doing the ending sequence dance correctly. Maybe Patrick Swayze will look down on me and help.
