Bill says:
It is unfathomable to understand how you could omit Fess Parker, from any list of successful Texans on TV as you have done in your latest issue. Your web site has a "Poll" for voting on "Who is the best Texas TV Character ever?" and one of the five choices is "Jessica Simpson" here
and in your magazine getting 0 votes. You must be attempting to be cute. It’s not.
You established the criteria as "ever" and as I write this, I am still in shock. Just read excerpts from web sites below or use the links to back up what this native Texan accomplished.
I am very disappointed in a magazine purporting to be Texan.

From the Los Angeles Times web site:
Fess Parker, whose star-making portrayal of frontiersman Davy Crockett on television in the mid-1950s made him a hero to millions of young baby boomers and spurred a nationwide run on coonskin caps, died Thursday. He was 85.
Parker, who played another pioneer American hero on television’s "Daniel Boone" in the 1960s before becoming a successful Santa Barbara hotel developer and Santa Ynez Valley winery owner, died of complications from old age at his home near the winery, said family spokeswoman Sao Anash.

Quoting from this site:
Fess Elisha Parker, Jr. (August 16, 1924 – March 18, 2010)[1] was an American film and television actor best known for his 1950s portrayals of Davy Crockett for Walt Disney and his late 1960s portrayals of Daniel Boone
Fess Parker was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up on a farm near San Angelo.[4] Parker graduated from the University of Texas in 1950 with a degree in history.
Parker’s Daniel Boone television series portraying another historic figure of America’s frontier days began filming in 1964. Over its six years (1964 to 1970) as one of the highest rated shows of its time, Parker was not only the star of the series but also the co-producer and director of five of its most popular episodes.[14]
