Still Life

Thirty-five years ago Dallas—and the country—was gripped by the tragic story of John McClamrock, a high school football player paralyzed during a violent tackle. But after the newspapers moved on, another story was quietly unfolding, one of courage, perseverance, and a mother’s fierce love.

Across The Line

According to the district attorney in Smith County, this building was the site of the most horrific child sex ring in Texas history. Three of the adults convicted of running it have already been sentenced to life in prison. There’s just one problem: The DA in neighboring Wood County, where the building is located, says nothing happened here at all.

The 50 Greatest Hamburgers In Texas

A gastro-scientific inquiry into the finest burgers in the state that invented the burger, including the Toro (#4), the Stodg (#6), the Miss Hattie (#28), and, in our top slot, a miracle of meat served only on Sundays. No wonder they call it the Lord’s day.

Innocence Lost

Since August 23, 1992, Anthony Graves has been behind bars for the gruesome murder of a family in Somerville. There was no clear motive, no physical evidence connecting him to the crime, and the only witness against him recanted, declaring again and again before his death, in 2000, that Graves didn’t do it. If he didn’t, the truth will come out. Won’t it?

Right Place, Right Time

An exquisite sense of timing—and a good deal of luck—has helped transform Rick Perry from an unknown Democratic state legislator into a swaggering Republican who’s spent more years in the Governor’s Mansion than anyone in Texas history. Is it enough to carry him past Kay Bailey Hutchison and all the way to the White House?

Vince I can only imagine it is the grief of the loss of a loved one what can keep you ignoring a world of fans and our endless wishes and pledges of forgiveness. If one gets on your skin I’d also feel I’d never in this lifetime share a stage with Anselmo again and that’s the end of it. However I’m sure many share this deep and bitter feeling of a broken heart that I have, very much like the way one feels when their parents separate, in such a constant way that one doesn’t wanna think about. In spite of this, I like to keep the faith and believe that one day all this shit will be over, time will heal the wounds and we’ll see u guys together again. To err is humane. To forgive is divine.

i wish Vinnie and Phil could make up and make a tribute to Dime bag, playing together with Zakk and Rex. That’d be a good gift to all the fans.

Vinnie, I wish there was someway you could do it again. I was lucky enough to have seen you guys on every tour that came close to me, Cowboys From Hell, with Wrathchild America in St. Louis in 1990. Two times on Vulgar Display in St. louis in 92 two times in St.Louis on Far Beyond Driven. One time in Jacksinville Fl. on Great Southern Trendkill and finally the last time in Miami on Reinventing The Steel, And you will always be my favorite band. Vin, I wish you could find it in your heart to forgive Phil. It would be so killer to see you three plus some guest guitarists perform. Zakk obviously was mentioned. I’m sure Kerry King would love to contribute as well.

What can I say?! When it comes to talk about Pantera...It’s hard for me, you mean so much too me that...all I can say is that you were, you are and I’m sure you will always be the best metal band for me...Each one of you are genious. You changed my life, seriously... I never had the opportunity to see you alive, I’m only 19, and that makes me really sad and..... I tell you this, I would’nt mind if to see Pantera alive the condition was to never see more bands in my life. Really! Oh if that was possible...Anyway, the 4 of you will be always alive in my heart...Thank you...

Vin.....As I speak now,I speak for the entire world of Metalheads that we would give anything to see pantera once more onstage...If you’re reading this, know that Dimebag is not dead but he lives on...through people like us who keep his memories alive everyday, bit by bit.He inspired a generation of metalheads like me to pick up a guitar and play it...Dime style..I know it’s a tough call and the good times that was the 80’s and the 90’s isn’t there anymore..but it isn’t too hard to try is it??Dimebag Darrell was a god and still is...to me atleast...no one can play the guitar like him...I live in India...a country Pantera would probably never come for a concert...but the point is,if your’e living life, live it with happiness...think about us a little...Please!!take us back to the good ol’ times...I think there is only one person in this planet who can atleast try to play the things Dime did....Zakk Wylde...with two of Metal’s three greatest guitarist’s gone(Dimebag and Randy Rhoads),that only leaves us with Zakk...I see you guys(Vinnie,Rex,Phil and Zakk)beating the shit outta these Metalcore suckers...Show ’em what true Texas Groove Metal can do....Man,I’d kill to see pantera again Onstage giving the world a taste of true Heavy metal...Yours ever...Akash....Love Peace m/.

I would like to congratulate the guys on 20 years of Rocking Like Madmen. Pantera laid the foundation of Modern Metal. They have, and always will have, a place in Rock History. When I drink a black tooth, I’m gonna toast the guys and thank them for their contributions to music and always wish them the best. Thank you so much, Brian Doggins of Down From Zero

We need you to all put aside your differences. Pantera Doesn’t just belong to you guys anymore. Pantera is a part of every single one of us now. Here is what I see: Vinnie, Rex and Phil are still alvive and rocking harder than ever and, Zakk Wylde is the only person who could step into Dimes shoes on this one. HE isn’t playing for Ozzy. AM I the only one who has made this observation?!

Well, it’s about time, TEXAS MONTHLY!! The only Texans who have sold more records than the mighty Pantera are probably only George Strait & Willie Nelson. I had the honor and priviledge to meet Dimebag (and Vinnie Paul) backstage at a Damageplan festival show. My friend was a promotions rep for their label and managed to sneak me backstage to meet one of my musical heroes. Dime was the most down to earth, genuine, and humble celebrities I have ever met. Best(and foggiest, for that matter) 2 hours I have ever spent. Right before the band left for the tourbus to the next town, I shook Dime’s hand and said "You are the reason I decided to play guitar when I was 10 years old." In true Dime fashion, he smiled and said humbly, "I’m sorry, dude." One of a kind indeed. RIP Dime.
