Cartwright's Texas
The Idealist
The late Warren Burnett was the last of his breed: a passionate defender of the little guyand of the now-radical notion that there's honor in being a trial lawyer.

Richard says:
I first met Wrren in El Paso when he and J.B. Ochoa sued the El Paso Times representing Dr. Ricahrd Trexler, a UTEP History Professor. The Times had called a Communist(a cheap way of polluting a person’s reputation in the community in those days.
Thereafter When Warren was in town (Austin) We would usually hear it from labor and we wouldallgather at Shultz’s BG for discussions on solving he world’s probelems. Usually present were Pancho Medrano UAW, Roy Evans Texas AFL-CIO,and other labor leaders,SAn Houston jClinto, Neil Caldwell, Charely Wilson and otehr members of the" Dirty Thirty"(when Legis. was in session). I sat throughout the Ccartwright trial and found Sam Houston Clinton very much akin to Warren’s cout room demeanor.
Thereafter I used to see Warren in Houston when he defended Dr. Burkholder Twice.
Wareen was always very acommodating not only to people knew, but to anyone who asked anything. He would tke the time to fully answer their questions. I never knew a stranger that wlaked away unimpressed by Warren.
