Still Life

Thirty-five years ago Dallas—and the country—was gripped by the tragic story of John McClamrock, a high school football player paralyzed during a violent tackle. But after the newspapers moved on, another story was quietly unfolding, one of courage, perseverance, and a mother’s fierce love.

Across The Line

According to the district attorney in Smith County, this building was the site of the most horrific child sex ring in Texas history. Three of the adults convicted of running it have already been sentenced to life in prison. There’s just one problem: The DA in neighboring Wood County, where the building is located, says nothing happened here at all.

The 50 Greatest Hamburgers In Texas

A gastro-scientific inquiry into the finest burgers in the state that invented the burger, including the Toro (#4), the Stodg (#6), the Miss Hattie (#28), and, in our top slot, a miracle of meat served only on Sundays. No wonder they call it the Lord’s day.

Innocence Lost

Since August 23, 1992, Anthony Graves has been behind bars for the gruesome murder of a family in Somerville. There was no clear motive, no physical evidence connecting him to the crime, and the only witness against him recanted, declaring again and again before his death, in 2000, that Graves didn’t do it. If he didn’t, the truth will come out. Won’t it?

Right Place, Right Time

An exquisite sense of timing—and a good deal of luck—has helped transform Rick Perry from an unknown Democratic state legislator into a swaggering Republican who’s spent more years in the Governor’s Mansion than anyone in Texas history. Is it enough to carry him past Kay Bailey Hutchison and all the way to the White House?

Ms. Marshall says:
Roddy did come across as a very nice young man, I always thought that everytime we met. Too bad that ever word he spoke, and I guess he continues to speak, is full of lies. Yes Darrell was the only other one to go to jail for stealing cattle, but David also went to jail for beating his wife, still there. He broke her hand in 5 places. She was only trying to cover her head while he was hitting her. You see, Windy was never allowed to leave the house, David knew that if she did it was only to go and see another man. You see the whole time all this cattle stealing was going on Windy and Melissa both would get "whipped", I guess that’s how a Cowboy like Roddy would say it, on a regular basis. I am sure Tamra could confirm that since she is their sister. I have to agree with her in one aspect, Roddy is and always will be a compulsive liar. Due to his Diabetes he never could do much as a child but day dream, and I guess that really did become his life. Too bad he had to hurt so many other people on his way down, Melissa and Windy were not the only innocent people he named when he began to tell his story to the "law".

tamra says:
i dont know exactly where you are getting your information from but, i must admit, most of it is completely made up. I happen to know all of these people personaly and i know the stories from every point of view. I do know Roddy, i too grew up with him. i have known him from the time i was 5 years old. I also know Darrell, David, Melissa, and Windy. These stories are completely rediculous and made up. Darrell has been convicted and has served the time for his mistakes. I just have one question, Why put Roddy on this pedistal claiming he is a shy, well mannered young man. I have witnessed this individual do the unthinkable. Can you not see that this person is a compulsive liar. I am really tired of reading about Roddy Dean Pippin being a polite young cowboy and nothing but slander of Darrell and David’s name. What about the twins side? Does that not matter?
