In 1999, Carly Fiorina took over as president and CEO of Hewlett-Packard, becoming the first female CEO of a Fortune 20 company. Her rise from entry-level sales rep at AT&T and her very public fall in 2005 played out like a soap opera, talked about widely in both the media and Fiorina’s memoir, Tough Choices .
