The journalist and author Carl Hiaasen has written many things for many audiences: investigative reports in a Miami paper, a popular column, mystery novels, a memoir built around golf and three books for young readers including his newest, Scat. Longtime fans know Hiaasen as a funny, satirical and often touching writer who’s as devoted to South Florida as South Florida is to him. And more than 20 years of books have found a much wider audience for his work.
