Bryan Burrough, Author (Thursday, March 26th 2009)
Bryan Burrough is a best-selling author and long-time special correspondent for Vanity Fair. He has written about a wide variety of topics for that magazine, including a detailed examination of the events that led to the war in Iraq and insightful profiles of a crowd of well-known figures. He’s even better known as the author of a number of well-reported and insightful books. His first, the co-authored Barbarians at the Gate, spent 39 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and became an Emmy-nominated movie. Burrough followed that success with a best-selling look at the early FBI and the legendary American criminals the agency pursued. Burrough’s newest book is of special interest to a Texas audience. The Big Rich: The Rise and Fall of the Greatest Texas Oil Fortunes weaves larger-than-life stories of the Big Four Texas oil barons into the larger tale of the economic and political power they created.
