Sonny Rollins, Musician (Thursday, May 21st 2009)
Grammy-winning jazz musician Sonny Rollins grew up in Harlem around the corner from the Apollo Theater and surrounded by bebop and the musicians who were creating it. Before he turned 20, Rollins had performed and recorded with some of the greatest musicians of the 1940’s. His list of mentors, collaborators and fans is a catalogue of great players, and he’s famous for improvisation.
