Kenny & Ziggy’s
The details may be a bit off, but overall the Broadway-themed NY deli/diner concept is spot on, judging by the crowds at all hours. We started well with vibrant, cherry-red borscht, but a triple-decker turkey-bacon-Swiss club (think sandwich on steroids), though impressive, proved a bit dry. A hearty, family-size serving of goulash was soul-nourishing, with stewed beef chunks in a paprika-hued gravy, but its noodles were gooey. No complaints with the quiche, a downright manly version with creamy eggs, Gruyère, caramelized onions, and smoked salmon. From the rotating dessert case, we chose a wedge of cheesecake–chocolate mousse torte big enough to feed an entire offensive line. Beer & wine.
