82nd Street Cafe
Owned by three generations of the same family, 82nd Street sports a walk-up booth inside, the kind you might find at a flea market or rodeo. It makes ordering a little awkward, but we soon settled in amid a roomful of wholesome families. Dinner options include spicy meatloaf with glazed carrots and legit mashed potatoes, crispy hand-breaded chicken-fried steak, buttery grilled cheese, and more. The kitchen likes to shake up its burger offerings with monthly specials (a Reuben burger, taco burger, jalapeño burger). Don’t skip the famous onion rings or the cobblers (the strawberry is alone worth the trip).
