The Alley on Bitters, 555 W. Bitters Rd [map] | L & D 7 days | 210-496-0555 |
The patio, perched at the back of Artisans Alley, is a definite plus in mild weather, but what keeps us coming back—often with guests—is Jason Dady’s unpredictable menu, with dishes that are likely locally purveyed and always delicious. There’s a mix these days of small and larger plates: we had a North African–inspired duck confit over plump couscous, savory-sweet with raisins and capers, and meltingly decadent crab-and-cream-cheese-filled croquettes, like a luxury version of crab rangoon. Caramelized onions add texture and smoke to a delicious traditionally dressed Caesar salad. (9/13)
