Every so often, a restaurant arrives in town that has everyone talking, and this eclectic spot is it. Similar to Austin’s Hopdoddy, Grub specializes in burgers with freshly ground beef and unusual additions like ghost chiles, absinthe-sautéed mushrooms, and roasted pulled pork. We tried the Ghost Burger—tasty, but not as intense as the pepper-infused toppings would suggest—and the Lockhart Legend, a melt-in-your-mouth combination of bacon, smoked cheddar, fried onions, and Dr Pepper barbecue sauce. Other innovative offerings include tuna burgers, fig-and-almond couscous, and sophisticated salads. Milkshakes, in flavors like Twinkie, salted caramel, and spiked bananas Foster, are big hits. (6/12)
