Bright, cheeky, and sassy as a Pop-Tart, Bite’s take on the now popular small-plates menu is assertive and imaginative. The lobster spring roll, for example, constructs a mock crustacean from bits of lobster wrapped in bacon, using tomatoes for the “tail” and “claws.” Colorful towers of scallops with mango-bacon relish were equally good, as were the “cannelloni,” a duo of wonton–wrapped lamb meatballs with North African spices. Friendly, unstuffy service and an arty ambience (right down to the brightly hued tissue in the restrooms) make good use of this Southtown corner. (7/13)
