Flowers and white napery bespeak a hotel dining room that aims to impress. Start, perhaps, with a thick corn soup aswim with plenty of crab. Then move on to the mild but tasty sturgeon with black risotto, mush- rooms, and brussels sprouts or the juicy duck confit with parsnip purée. The good-humored servers are as practiced as they are pleasant. Note that Las Ca- narias is a short walk from the Majestic, in case you have an evening’s entertainment ahead.  (2/13)
