Donna and Randal Brooks, the owners of this destination restaurant (a bit of a drive for most Tylerites), have set a beautiful, upscale yet laid-back scene for what lately has been mediocre fare and service. On our recent jaunt out to Lost Pine Lake, we started with a perfectly acceptable trio of house-made hummus, creamy white-bean-and-rosemary dip, and olive tapenade. The seared redfish that followed was nicely seasoned, but we were less pleased with the almost-cool basil-macadamia rice pilaf. Our
dining companion deemed the main attraction in the shrimp piccata to be a bit overdone. We were surprised to discover that the once-gratis entertainment now carries a cover charge. (3/13)
