Calling itself “the old place by the graveyard,” this sprawling, kitschy El Paso favorite is expanding again. But the favorites will still be the chile con queso—strips of long green chile mixed with creamy white cheddar—and the cold salpicón salad of spicy shredded brisket topped with freshly made pico. As always, the red or green enchiladas are the star of the show; add a chile relleno and you might think you’ve gone to heaven. (8/13)
