Industrial-chic yet comfy, pint-size Paulie’s continues to please after twenty-odd years. Folks show up for bounteous salads, luscious panini, terrific ginger lemonade, and giant chocolate-dunked peanut butter cookies. Don’t mind the counter service: you can enjoy a serious, affordable dinner, complete with nice wines by the glass. A handful of creative pizzas beckoned; sadly, the flavorful Nonna was so heavily topped (tomato sauce, sliced tomatoes, spinach, salty feta) it went soggy immediately. We recovered with the arugula-cucumber salad and creamy canestri (large pasta shells) with broccoli and roasted garlic. Nightly chalkboard specials include dishes like a roasted pork loin chop served with addictive Parmesan potatoes. (8/13)
