Estrella's
We know—this Mexican cafe looks like a has-been Dairy Queen, and it could use fresh paint outside. But the place is immaculate, the staff one of the friendliest in town, and the food more than Tex-Mex. Start with the queso, because it’s kicky and thick with ground beef. The burrito is as hefty as your arm and filled with beans and beef, and the mini-tacos are so adorable you won’t want to eat them. But our favorite is the gorditas (barbacoa, al pastor), pan-fried just right, their crispy crust giving way to a soft center. (8/13)
