Strolling into this casual brasserie, with its calming light blue walls, gilded accents, and cheerful French vintage tunes piped throughout the room, it’s hard not to summon your inner Francophile. Arro showcases the French technique and inspiration long adored by chef duo Andrew and Mary Catherine Curren, whose menu is a celebration of classics like a divine tomato and goat cheese tart on buttery puff pastry and steak frites, the meat perfectly seasoned and medium-rare, with crispy, thin fries. Roasted chicken had the perfect salty-crisp skin, but arrived slightly dry on the outer edges, a flaw we quickly corrected with a forkful of the accompanying sautéed leeks and mushrooms. Be sure to save room for dessert: nothing says heaven like a dark chocolate pot de crème adorned with a side of sweet cream and diced plum. (9/13)
