From Houston’s first family of Tex-Mex comes this namesake destination along the crowded Washington corridor. Decidedly sports-themed, it’s a family-friendly steakhouse serving Italian fare, Gulf Coast seafood, comfort dishes, Tex-Mex, and burgers. Though the menu is a bit of a hodgepodge and sports some steep prices, the crowds seem to love it. Our meal started with fried oysters, which were on the smallish side but had great flavor. For our main course, we chose the pork carne asada, a hefty tenderloin topped with melted asadero and mild Hatch chiles. Our (other) meat-lover would not be swayed from the signature prime rib, tender and succulent, offered in small, medium, and large portions with a choice of side (he went for the heavenly creamed corn).
