A  boring cement box on the outside, 50 Yard Line is die-hard Red Raider fanfare inside. Photos, jerseys, and other iconography cover the walls, and the enormous portions bring in not only local teams and boosters but traveling business folk, church groups, and college students. We’d come for the pregame feast alone: little mugs of French onion soup, garden salads, buttery cheese rolls. But the real draw is beef, pink and juicy Angus steaks seared on a charcoal grill with names like the Halfback and the Wingback (top sirloins), the Quarterback (ribeye), the Fullback (New York strip), and the Heisman (surf and turf).
