Pancake House
We aim our car toward the Pancake House when we’re ready to hit breakfast hard. The Sunbeam Bread sign and the old-timey ranch scenes hanging on the paneled walls let us pretend we’re eating at the family farmhouse. We wouldn’t miss the sweet potato pancakes, a touch of the South with sugar and cinnamon, but we’d suggest you skip the hash browns and go for the house potatoes with a side of white gravy. An order of huevos rancheros brings salsa over fried eggs, potatoes dressed up with bell peppers and onions, and a side of refrieds. And don’t ignore those friendly folks sitting at the breakfast bar: they served us up some corny jokes, down-home advice, and Wrigley’s Spearmint gum for the road. (9/13)
