This homey cafe, frequented by locals and college students, is a treasure, its stained concrete floors and gingham-covered tables complemented by folksy service and delicious comfort food. On a Friday afternoon, the place was hopping, but we soon found ourselves at a table downing crispy fried shrimp, sweet potatoes, and okra, topped off with a thick, creamy slice of chocolate pie.
