2012 Texas Monthly BBQ Festival

For the third consecutive year the sold-out Texas Monthly BBQ Festival brought more than 3,000 impassioned fans of barbecue to the City Terrace of the Long Center in Austin for a day of blissful immersion in smoke, music, and fun. Twenty-one BBQ joints from across Texas fired up their pits at dawn preparing savory brisket, sausage, pork and beef ribs for sampling. Guests relaxed on the grassy lawn overlooking Lady Bird Lake, quaffed specialty cocktails, and grooved to the sounds of Hayes Carll, the Relatives, and Rosie Flores and the Rivetors. For BBQ devotees the day could not be any more satisfying—as one attendee pronounced happily, “My brain is brisket and my blood is barbecue sauce.” Mission accomplished!
