2009 Best Legislators Reception
An A-list Capitol crowd filled Austin’s venerable Scholz Garten for the first-ever party to celebrate the members of the “10 Best Legislators” list, who were named in the July 2009 issue. As Evan Smith, the president and editor in chief of TEXAS MONTHLY, praised the accomplishments of Robert Duncan, Craig Eiland, Rob Eissler, Jim Pitts, and Senfronia Thompson, more than one hundred guests enjoyed appetizers, drank beer and sampled wines compliments of Messina Hof Winery. And though the crowd was decidedly political, the vote was unanimous: Everyone is looking forward to the magazine’s legislative kickoff party in 2011.
