Lamberts Downtown Barbecue, in Austin, served as the perfect venue for the book release party for Wyatt McSpadden's TEXAS BBQ. As the aroma from the kitchen wafted to the upstairs room, McSpadden, a longtime contributing photographer at TEXAS MONTHLY, and T.J. Tucker, the magazine's award-winning art director, walked the crowd of nearly one hundred people through a visual tour of the state's great barbecue joints. But this wasn't just a feast for the eyes. Guests enjoyed Lamberts famous deviled eggs, tasty sliders and fried pies and sipped on Rosenblum Cellars and A by Acacia wines and an assortment of micro-brews including Dogfish Head Aprihop, Real Ale Fireman’s #4, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. After the book signing, no one could be faulted for heading downstairs and ordering a heaping plate of ribs for themselves.
