2011 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference

The Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference bridged journalists, authors, students, and educators through their common passion for writing. Attendees were treated to an optional bus trip to Archer City, home to the legendary bookstores of Larry McMurtry; writing workshops for promising manuscripts; and lectures by influential voices in journalism including keynote speakers Dianne Ackerman, Ted Conover, and Gene Weingarten. This year, a student biography contest was introduced, enabling conference director and writer-in-residence George Getschow to personally coach a new generation of writers. Every year, the conference offers several opportunities for writers to win cash prizes and publishing contracts by submitting manuscripts- consider joining the Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference next summer!

Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center, Grapevine, July 22 - 24, 2011
