The Green Car of the Year
isn’t a car at all.
It’s America’s first full-size hybrid SUV.
Chevy Tahoe Hybrid named 2008
Green Car of the Year
by Green Car Journal.
Chevy introduces the Tahoe Hybrid,* America’s first full-size hybrid SUV. Available in two- or four-wheel drive, the Tahoe Hybrid provides the power and capability you expect from a utility vehicle while delivering amazing fuel efficiency. Its hybrid propulsion system operates in three ways: electric power, engine power, or any combination of electric and engine power. When needed, the extra muscle of Tahoe’s Vortec™ V8 kicks in seamlessly. When you pair the two-mode technology with our Active Fuel Management™ system, the Tahoe Hybrid offers up to 50% better city fuel economy over the non-hybrid Tahoe.** That’s one smart hybrid.

Special Hybrid gauges include an economy gauge that constantly updates your fuel conservation efforts. Auto stop position on the tachometer informs you when the engine has shut down and you are running fully on electric power.
The visual readout screen on the navigation radio displays whatever power mode you are currently in: engine idle, engine power, hybrid power, regenerative braking, or battery power.
