Sengelmann Hall in Schulenburg graced the pages of the December 2009 issue of TEXAS MONTHLY as one of the classic dance halls in Texas. To celebrate the issue, Sengelmann was the setting for a celebration this past Saturday featuring a panel discussion led by TEXAS MONTHLY senior editor, John Spong, joined by Dana Harper, the owner of Sengelmann Hall, and the evening's musical guest, James Hand. Over 100 guests heard stories about Texas dance halls and learned about the efforts to preserve them. The panel was complemented by tasty appetizers provided by Sengelmann, a wide selection of Shiner beer, and music courtesy of James Hand. A toe-tapping time was had by all.
