Americans love Christmas. Nowhere is the evidence more apparent than in the wild proliferation in recent years of yard displays--it seems that as Christmas draws near, the artist in all of us emerges (given a long extension cord and a few thousand lights). Even towns have gotten into the act, decorating just as lavishly and sometimes just as zanily as its residents. Here is a geographically arranged list of great light displays both public and private all over Texas--all you'll need to enjoy them is a full tank of gas.

In the sidebar, Christina Patoski takes us on a Christmas tour of some of the state's best front yards.

Wayfarer's Holiday, Fort Worth
Honk if you love Santa! Midge Lovell takes the holiday spirit with her wherever she goes--cruising out on the open road, or just resting in the driveway. St. Nick always leaves an extra battery under the tree.
