The cafe in the Art Museum of South Texas has got its own following, thanks to its dazzling site (bayfront, in the shadow of the high bridge) and eclectic menu of salads (like the hearty Swinney Switch, with its assortment of meats, corn salsa, and red chili beans), sandwiches (the California Crab Cake sports ciabatta bread and roasted poblanos), and breakfast brunch items (consider the Jenny Wren, an Asiago cheese scone with poached eggs and Canadian bacon). Visits are enhanced by the ever-changing panorama of vessels passing within a literal stone’s throw (not recommended that you toss one, however). (6/13)
