Relocated at the end of last year from a tight Oak Lawn spot to a sprawling two-acre lot in West Dallas, Henry’s Majestic continues its motto of “good food, strong drink.” For many, the primary attraction will be, as always, Alex Fletcher’s kick back and relax–style cocktails (think frozen hibiscus mezcal palomas and sparkling strawberry “cozmos”), which may now be sipped to live music on a dog-friendly patio. When the drinks begin to have their inevitable effect, you could order nibbles like the thick-yet-creamy house-made onion dip with thin, fresh-cut potato chips. The fried cauliflower also won us over, especially after we discovered the game-changing scallion–green goddess dressing at the bottom of the skillet. New mains at this hang-out include a seared Atlantic halibut with a pipián verde sauce, but we relished the standards of yore, including the rich, bone marrow–spiked Akaushi burger with house pickles and the steaming bowl of birria ramen in a lusty broth well endowed with braised pork.
