This lovely spot across the street from the Menil Collection offers artful and satisfying dishes, many with Italian or French roots. Modestly priced entrées include two sides, with a nice selection of wines to complement your order. Order this to go: the impossibly rich and delicious goat cheese and leek fondue, a round of fresh chèvre atop a pool of melted Gruyère, topped with crisp shallots, all to scoop up with thin focaccia; a perfectly roasted salmon with horseradish-dill sauce; and juicy, seared lemon-thyme chicken served with a crock of pan drippings. For a couple of extra bucks, add the thick fries with spicy ketchup or a heap of seared brussels sprouts jazzed up with pancetta. Pro tip: Park in the large Menil lot off of Alabama and call the restaurant to have your order delivered to your car.
