There may be no food more perfect for takeaway than the beloved enchilada. Here, it’s offered in at least eight varieties, including the lesser-known entomatadas and envueltos, each with tasty twists on standard beef, chicken, and cheese fillings. Other portable favorites include the variations—25 and counting—of grilled bolillos (known in some circles as a torta). We’ll take ours spread generously with frijoles laced with a heady chorizo. Order this to go: The enchiladas callejeras (street style) perfectly replicate the original curbside dining experience with chile-dusted enchiladas stuffed with queso blanco and capped with jewel-like sautéed carrots, potatoes, and onion and ripe avocado slices. Or go all out and opt for the chicken-fried chicken, lavished with a jalapeño-flecked cream gravy that’s simply restorative. Pro tip: An in-house bakery handles dessert admirably.
