Yes, the bright, airy new space is attractive, but to us it lacks the down-home feel of a good ’cue joint. Still, the line was long when we arrived and longer when we left. Our favorites were the moist, meaty chicken and ribs; the dirty rice with savory bits of chicken liver; the satisfying mac and cheese; the peppery sausage; a great vinegary sauce (taking us back to our Southern roots); and the bright, slightly crisp, and simply terrific green beans. We would not order again the pinto beans (overly seasoned with cumin), the mushy potato salad, or the dry brisket. And, alas, some items arrived cool to the touch.
