Baytown Sculpture Trail – Baytown’s Downtown Arts District has added new dimension to its art collection with the advent of a year-long Sculpture Trail featuring 25 sculptures from artists across North America. As an outdoor exhibit along downtown sidewalks, the exhibit is free for visitors. Come vote for your favorite sculpture on the trail yearly as the exhibits change annually.

Baytown Nature Center – Bird enthusiasts flock to the Baytown Nature Center. Located on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, this 500-acre peninsula is surrounded by three bays and home to more than 350 species of birds. The Center features birding blinds, picnic shelters, fishing piers, pavilions and overlooks, a butterfly garden, and a children’s nature discovery area. Also, visitors can launch a kayak or paddleboard and enjoy the waterways.

Eddie V. Grey Wetlands Center – The Wetlands Center aims to increase awareness and understanding of wetlands, the environment, and cultural history. Admission is free and features a 900 square foot exhibit hall containing a variety of live-animal and hands-on exhibits, fishing piers, and a canoe launch. Wetlands Center staff provide tours if reserved in advance or visitors can take a self-guided tour. 

Bird Island – An off-the-beaten-path opportunity is the Bird Island Boat Tour with Terry’s Guide Service. April through June, birders flock to the area to take this boat tour. Bird Island is an official migratory nesting sight and only accessible by boat. Captain Terry’s Bird Island Boat Tour is 2 hours long and circles the whole island for an incredible birding experience. Birders will see thousands of birds on the shores, nesting in the trees, and feeding in the waters surrounding the island.
