Frontier can take you right back to age five, ten, eighteen, when Jim’s Frontier ruled the neighborhood. And here, real charcoal-grilled burgers alone make a visit worthwhile (bags of charcoal in the dining room give proof to the flame). But those super-thin, crispy onion rings make a visit a must. The Ol’ Smokey looks suspiciously like the original Hickory Burger, while the Chili Burger, messy, cheesy, and oniony, is another throwback, and well worth overdoing the calories (hey, the very crisp and very cold side salad is far better than most other fast-food joints’). Seems like this place is designed for franchise fame, but for now it’s just the one, and it’s open fairly late every night. The quality and friendly service bode well for the future.
