Plano native Lauren Scruggs lost her hand after walking into a plane propeller at the McKinney airport on Saturday night.

Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs, Lauren’s shell-shocked parents, discussed their 23-year-old daughter’s condition with George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America Tuesday morning. The Scruggs, speaking from Dallas, told Stephanopoulos that Lauren’s condition is improving: “Yesterday was a good day, there was a lot of really positive progress,” Jeff said, adding that Lauren spoke Monday after her breathing tube was removed.

Lauren lost her left hand in the accident and her face and shoulder were also injured. Her parents theorized that she walked into the propeller when she turned back to the plane to thank the pilot. Lauren had been flying on a two-seater plane to view Christmas lights.

Scruggs founded Lolo, an online fashion magazine earlier this year and an outpouring of support appeared from friends and strangers appeared on Lolo’s Facebook page. She had also worked on Gossip Girl in the wardrobe department, and, according to a January Dallas Morning News article, is friends with Candice Crawford, Tony Romo’s wife and the sister of Gossip Girl star Chase Crawford.
