We wish for a warm, shining Relish equivalent in every neighborhood. This south River Oaks eatery is casual and friendly, serving up innovative American food with French and Italian twists. We relished it all, beginning with a smoky tenderloin carpaccio and a refreshing strawberry salad with just the right amount of Gorgonzola atop. Zippy, deeply rich New Orleans–style barbecue shrimp with creamy polenta followed. Our other main dish, fried chicken, was also delicious—crispy, moist, and savory. We would return for the desserts alone. We settled this time on a warm salted brownie with vanilla ice cream, Kahlúa caramel sauce, and candied pecans and took our towering carrot cake with Bulleit bourbon sauce home.
