Oozing New Orleans charm, this stylish bistro serves refined Cajun cuisine in a restored Craftsman home. The menu also includes some broadly Southern classics, such as Mawmaw’s Fried Chicken; the juicy, perfectly crispy leg and thigh pieces come with a piquant red pepper jelly, pickled veggies, and a buttery biscuit. Our favorite dish was the shrimp and creamy grits, which teamed Gulf shrimp with mushrooms and tomatoes in a delicious demi-glace. A rich, dark gumbo with a spicy kick held shrimp, tender duck meat, house-made andouille sausage, and a crab claw to crack open. A side of creamed mixed greens was outstanding; not so the overfried potatoes.
