Venue: The rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception were all held on the McConaughey compound in Austin. “For their big day, McConaughey and Alves decided to stick close to home, setting up a makeshift, high-end campground for wedding guests to stay the weekend on their Texas property—complete with air conditioned tents, gourmet goodies, and plenty of entertainment,” US Weekly reported.
The Daily Mail has a selection of paparazzi shots from the event, including aerial views of the 47 air-conditioned tents, which the paper dubbed “luxury temporary abodes.” The tents “are said to be kitted out with beds, cosy white fur rugs on the floor, and outdoor seating with doormats at the front,” the paper reported.
Guests: Just who was staying in those tents? Celebrity guests included Reese Witherspoon, Jim Toth, Meg Ryan, and Woody Harrelson, according to Perez Hilton.
Ceremony: John Cougar Mellencamp “sang a song for the bride and groom based on a bible verse,” Us Weekly reported. McConaughey and Alves whispered their vows into each other’s ears. “No one knows what they said, but you could tell it was emotional because she was teary-eyed,” a pal tells Us.
Yes, but what did the happy couple wear? “For the sunset ceremony Saturday night, the actor donned a three-piece black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo, and Camila looked every inch the elegant bride in white Stuart Weitzman heels and a wedding gown handmade by a favorite Brazilian designer,” according to People. McConaughey’s tux led one guest to declare that he looked as handsome as an “Old Hollywood movie star.”
Entertainment: After the ceremony, guests danced to “a live band playing American pop and Brazilian rock hits,” according to Us Weekly. While the couple skipped the traditional first dance, they “still boogied the night away. When they were dancing, ‘You could definitely tell [Matthew] was in love,’ an eyewitness says.”
The party lasted through the night and stretched into Sunday, Us Weekly reported. “By Sunday afternoon, ‘some haven’t even gone to bed yet!’ one insider tells Us.” The weekend also had low-key moments: “Many guests, who lounged in hammocks, sipped beer and played lawn games, including beanbag and ring toss,” People reported.
Food: After the ceremony, guests were served “rotisserie-style Brazilian meats” (catered by Austin’s own Estancia Churrascaria) and a variety of desserts (but no cake!) On Sunday, Guy Fieri cooked up a “hearty Southern menu” of “crawfish, brisket, and fried okra,” one guest told Us Weekly.
