STAY

Travaasa Austin // Situated on a secluded, densely-wooded area that feels far from Austin’s urban core, Travaasa is a wellness resort and spa that boasts a daily “experience schedule” that includes an exhaustive list of activities, including everything from a challenge course and horseback rides to hatha yoga and origami lessons. 13500 Farm to Market 2769 (512-364-0061)

EAT + DRINK

Jean’s Kitchen, on the grounds of Travaasa, is where all meals are served. Ingredients are locally-sourced from a 200-mile radius. Despite the extensive wine list and ambitious menu, workout clothes are de rigueur even at dinner.

SEE + DO

A month before your trip, peruse the list of Travaasa activities and make your reservations. Popular activities, like the Prickly Pear Challenge Course, which includes a zip line suspended forty feet in the air or the Giant Swing, which sends you soaring over the treetops, book up weeks in advance.

Don’t miss the gorgeous infinity pool that overlooks the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve; or any one of the resort’s four hiking trails, which wind through the woods; or the labyrinth in the serene Solidago Gardens.

BEFORE YOU GO

Before hitting the road, pick up a few necessary items at Whole Foods (trail mix, citronella-based insect repellent, and some new yoga pants), then download Bill Callahan’s “Dream River” to listen to on the drive out.
