Law Property Tax Time Again: Hunting Season Opens on Homeowners

These days you can’t afford a home if you are not wealthy.
It’s that time of the year again when Texas homeowners receive their annual proposed appraisal value increases on their homes and properties (structure, land, etc.).
Generally, the new values proposed by County Appraisal Districts will try to increase home/land values anywhere from 3 to 6 percent, but the proposed increase may be as high as 10 percent by law. The appraisal district send out the new statement near that 10% maximum.
It’s done this way EVERY year.
Homeowners need to know they have rights and options. Unfortunately, most homeowners don’t know what their rights and options are and/or don’t know how to fight the abusive property tax system.

Such communications are part of what is wrong with our nation.
Wanting to convey the importance of honoring and supporting our troops is one thing, blaming the Democrats for all our ills is disheartening, unnecessary, inappropriate and just downright wrong.

The paintings of butterflies, dragonflies, and wildflowers at larger-than-life sizes were created by combining portrait techniques and traditional still-life painting. Come to the Wildflower Center’s McDermott Learning Center to get a closer look at Texas wildflowers and butterflies.

We went to the ROCKETS center in Houston for New Years with our three sons (college age) and girl friends and the stuffy parents (us) watched the dubies be passed back and forth across the aisle from other people. Of course, the sons thought this was fantastic for their parents to watch!

DPC SUMMER DINNER LECTURE SERIES 2: Dallas Peace Center features Col. (Ret.) Ann Wright, the senior-most U.S. official to resign in protest of Iraq War, at second of three events. After nearly 20 years of service with the State Department, Wright resigned citing the lack of U.N. support for the Iraq invasion, the lack of effort in Israel-Palestine and North Korea, and the threat to liberties in the U.S. as reasons for her departure. Since her resignation, Wright’s past military experience and international perspective have make her an invaluable ally to organizations dedicated to ending the war in Iraq.
