Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine, and Matthew McConaughey star in the Bernie, which has a special screening on March 14 at the South by Southwest film festival before opening nationwide on April 27. The film, which was set in Carthage, was co-written by Richard Linklater and TEXAS MONTHLY‘s Skip Hollandsworth, who wrote the 1998 article the movie is based on, “Midnight in the Garden of East Texas.”
