Museums/Galleries

Founded in 1980 and housed in Shakelford County’s first permanent jail, the museum’s collection includes more than 1,900 works of pre-Columbian and Asian art, as well as modern American and European works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Amedeo Modigliani, and Henry Moore. The outdoor sculpture collection, installed throughout the grounds, includes several post–World War II figurative works, including Jesus Bautista Moroles’s grantite Sun Symbol and Pericle Fazzini’s Conversation.
